English cricket captain Andrew Strauss benefits from Caribbean property investment

Along with other real estate investors at the Freedom Bay Eco Resort on the island he has received his first payments of 6% ROI on his two bedroom villa.

He is also setting up The Andrew Strauss Cricket Academy on the island which aims to benefit the local community by providing quality coaching and cricketing facilities for St Lucians.

‘It is already one year on since my decision to invest in a property at Freedom Bay and I am very happy to have backed one of the few winning developments at the moment. I absolutely love St Lucia and can't wait until I can spend some time with my family relaxing and soaking up some Caribbean sun at my holiday home once it is completed. I am even happier in the meantime that my investment is safe and bringing me a decent return,’ he explained.

Freedom Resorts has achieved the successful sales of over 500 fractions, meaning that over 50% of its first release has now been sold at its flagship development. This equates to approximately £15.5 million fractional sales.

Freedom Bay is described as an outstanding eco luxury resort development, with prime real estate located within a UNESCO World Heritage site at the foot of the iconic Pitons and when complete will include the first Six Senses international branded five star hotel in the Caribbean. It is structured to be owned in two ways: deeded fractional ownership or owning a villa outright.

Other investors include Des and Sarah Palmer who have invested £35,000 in a two week fraction of a one bedroom frontline villa at Freedom Bay. ‘We were seeking a balanced and alternative investment strategy and the Freedom Bay properties provided us with just this. The return on our investment has been entirely in accordance with all expectations. Needless to say, we are very pleased with our investment,’ the couple said.

The architect behind the development is the renowned Richard Hywel Evans of Studio RHE. His adventurous and optimistic design solutions that combine contemporary design with natural materials and environmental sensitivity have won numerous industry awards.

Freedom Bay provides the opportunity to purchase fractions with Cash or via UK government approved Self Invested Personal Pension Plans (SIPPs). Cash investors have the choice of using fractions themselves or receiving Lifestyle Own Use or Rental Income from the Operator.

For property investors St Lucia has no capital gains tax or inheritance tax and very low income taxes. There is a stable government with law based on the UK system and freehold ownership with Land Registry.

In the hotel section, at Freedom Bay early investors have the opportunity to purchase a 1/52nd fraction of a villa, a whole hotel villa or a land plot on which to build their villa. All have a sponsored exit strategy.

The project’s exclusive private residential estate is to be launched in January 2013 including luxury villas and various sized apartments. These will also benefit from the five star hotel concierge services.
