Binh Duong opens new river port

The port constructed to international standards is able to accommodate ships and barges of 1,000-2,000DWT, the company said.
The river port upon its full two-phase development will cover 53 hectares, comprising 16 wharves, the internal road system, a container yard, warehouses and modern equipments for handling cargo with total investment of VND1,450 billion (US$76.3 million).
Phase 1 has a building area of 25 hectares with total investment of VND780 billion comprising eight wharves, roads, storage facilities and cargo handling equipment with a yearly throughput capacity of 2.5 million tons. This phase is implemented from 2010 to 2014.
It has now completed two wharves with cargo handling capacity of up to 312,000 tons per year.
Thanh Phuoc Port’s phase 2 will comprise eight wharves, a waste water treatment system and other auxiliary facilities at a total cost of VND610 billion. The construction time is from 2014 to 2018.
The company said that the new port is located along the right bank of the Dong Nai River, enabling it to connect to other deep water ports such as Tan Cang-Cat Lai, Hiep Phuoc, Tan Cang-Cai Mep, SITV, Phu My, and SP-PSA.
Thanh Phuoc Port Corporation is set up by three local companies comprising Binh Duong Construction Consultant Investment Joint-stock Corporation (Biconsi); Nam Tan Uyen Joint Stock Company and U&I Logistics.
