The new project in Long Binh Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City has sent Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation’s total investment capital in the country rising to US$57.9 million.
With the new facility located next to the existing motorbike plant, Suzuki is pinning hopes on future growth potential of the local auto market, said chairman and CEO Osamu Suzuki of the corporation.
The Japanese firm built an auto factory in Binh Da Industrial Park in Dong Nai in 1996 which has manufactured and sold about 35,000 units on the domestic market since then. Six years ago, it constructed a motorcycle plant in Long Binh Industrial Park with a designed output capacity of 80,000 units annually.
According to Osamu Suzuki, the new auto plant will be operational next year, with the planned output of 5,000 units in the first year and 10,000 units thereafter.
