At a Hitachi-sponsored Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Saigon Tax Trade Center late last week, Yukio Toyoshima, managing director of Hitachi Asia Ltd., said Hitachi had succeeded in developing home appliances and electronic products in Vietnam.
In the coming time, Hitachi will participate in “Social Innovation Business” projects, which are essentially the projects related to infrastructure development in Vietnam, he said at the Christmas Light Up 2012 event.
Hitachi will invest in energy, urban traffic and urban infrastructure development, including smart cities, water treatment systems and elevators. This is Hitachi’s commitment to become a long-term partner of Vietnam.
In the near future, Hitachi will focus on three major fields, namely water treatment, urban traffic and infrastructure development, said Toyoshima.
“These are three basic areas that we will participate in to help Vietnam further improve its investment environment and infrastructure to attract more foreign investment in the future,” he said.
He explained Hitachi always sees Vietnam as one of its key markets, which is becoming more special after the company’s “New Globalization Plan”. “We see Vietnam as one of the 11 key markets in our globalization plan,” he said.
In its New Globalization Plan, Hitachi identifies 11 key regions, with a focus on the Asian Belt Zone, South America and East-Central Europe, where demand in the areas that Hitachi is focusing resources on is forecast to grow strongly.
“Christmas Light Up” is an annual event sponsored by Hitachi, with an aim to create a festive atmosphere of Christmas and a destination for families during the Christmas season. After the opening night, the event will last for three weeks with many recreational activities and ends on January 1, 2013 with a New Year music program, and a wide range of attractive games.
